Clarion University Foundation, Inc., selected Capstone Development Corp. to coordinate the development, design, construction and LEED commissioning of two new student housing buildings on Clarion University’s central campus in Clarion, Pennsylvania. The two buildings were designed to and achieved U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) criteria for silver certification.
The four story brick clad buildings feature both shared two bedroom/ two bath units with a common Living Room and shared one bedroom/one bath units with Living Room. Resident Advisor units are on each floor and a Resident Manager apartment is in one building. Lobby and conference area with a fully accessible kitchen are located on the first floor, along with mailboxes, laundry, and an administrative office. Upstairs study and media lounges provide additional student community space. Valley View Suites opened in 2009.
