Partnering with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Real Estate Foundation to assist in developing a new student housing facility near its campus, Capstone Development opened the new first-year housing community, Riverview, in 2007. Riverview is a 6-story building constructed into the natural contours of the existing bluff overlooking the Milwaukee River. The building is in a “U” shaped configuration with an open terrace space facing the Milwaukee River. Both ends of the “U” have glass enclosed student lounges that provide spectacular views of the River and the city of Milwaukee. The building construction is concrete for the first two floors with light gauge metal and concrete deck above. The building façade is a mixture of brick and metal panel with precast accents contextual with the local urban architecture.
Riverview offers over 160 beds of first-year housing in 117, two-bedroom double occupancy suites. Common areas and amenities in the community include lower level structured parking, a full service kitchen and dining commons, a convenience store, coffee shop, and extensive living-learning program with classroom space.
