DESCRIPTION

Capstone partnered with the University of South Carolina in Beaufort to develop Palmetto Village, a new 93,000 sq. ft student housing community providing over 270 beds in 71 units in four three-story buildings. The buildings are wood-frame construction with post-tensioned concrete floor slabs-on-grade. The structures have metal-plate-connected wood roof trusses and plywood roof sheathing to meet construction standards for hurricane vulnerable areas. The unit mix includes two bedroom/two bath units and four bed/ two bath. Building 1 is a 3-story walk-up structure with public program area, including a resident director’s apartment, management offices and a student lounge on the first floor. Buildings 2-4 are “double” three-story walk-up type building with four bed/two bath units throughout. The typical units are designed to be fully equipped with complete kitchens, full-size washer/dryers and baths with separate lavatory areas. Palmetto Village was completed in August 2005.
