Cornish Commons is the first P3+ private equity-financed project to be delivered under Capstone-Harrison Street’s strategic partnership. The new residence hall was developed on land owned by Cornish College of the Arts and is located in downtown Seattle, WA. The new building is a 20-story mixed-used, high-rise structure with approximately 200 suite and studio style student units with more than 430 beds of housing. With nearly 17,000 sf of academic space, the first and second floors of the building are home to Cornish administrative offices, studio movement classrooms and a campus “student living room”. The top floor of the building contains resident amenity space including a fitness center, media room, community kitchen, gaming area, lounge space, laundry and music practice rooms as well as a sky deck with views of downtown and nearby Lake Union. Construction on Cornish Commons began in February 2014 and was completed on-time in July 2015.
Cornish Commons is the recipient of many awards, including 2015 Building of the Year and Innovator Awards for the Best New Development, Best Public/Private Partnership and Most Creative Public/Private Financing.
