Expressing Gratitude at Capstone

It is no revelation that 2020 has had its ups and downs–with a disproportionate share of downs. Despite the constant feeling of uncertainty through the social distancing and understanding what “new normal” means, we would be remiss if we did not sit back, reflect and share our gratitude for what we have in 2020. Members of the Capstone family share what they have found they are thankful for through work, family, and friends.

I am thankful for constants in the chaos of this year – supportive and loving family, coworkers and friends. – Abigail Robertson, Development Associate

I am incredibly grateful for all of the people I have in my life. As we go through such a challenging year, I am constantly reminded of how lucky I am to have such kind hearted, loving people that surround me. – Chrissy Zilly, Director of Administration Denver, Marketing Associate Denver

I am thankful for a company that allowed us to work from home during the pandemic, has worked hard to accommodate those who must continue working from home and yet maintain everyone’s value to be made to feel a part of the team.  Greer Bisignani, Office Administrator

The past year’s limited travel has made me very thankful for the extra time at home with my wife and two young boys.  We also moved this year from a condo in an urban setting with very few neighborhood children, to a neighborhood with a yard and a lot of young families.  The positive impact this has had on our family has been amazing and for that I’m very thankful. – Houston Wurtele, Development Manager

I am so thankful to work for Capstone Development Partners (CDP)!  Capstone Interiors (CI) was recently transitioned to work directly for CDP and the way we were welcomed into this company was so amazing and exceeded my expectations more than I could have imagined. CI has been working on CDP projects for many years so the transition was a natural fit.  It is exciting to be able to offer more interior design services to CDP internally. I am truly grateful to be a part of the comradery and collaboration with the development team on current and prospective projects to make the student housing properties the best that they can be functionally and aesthetically.  The interior design community has been hit hard economically by the pandemic which makes me even more grateful than ever to have a job and to be doing what I love to do.   – Jane Brakefield, Sr Interior Designer & Tara Blevins, Interior Designer (Capstone Interiors)

I am grateful to work for a company that believes in excellence and has high business ethics always believing in doing the right thing for our clients. Over the years, I have seen Capstone frequently deliver more than what was promised to our clients because we had a little contingency money and wanted to upgrade the facilities to improve the campus life of our tenants and long-term viability of our facilities. I am grateful to work with a great group of people with a strong team attitude and spirit to get the work done; whatever it takes. Everyone is always willing to pitch in to help one another when someone gets their wagon loaded. – Joe Harrison, Sr Construction Manager

When thinking about what I’m thankful for; many things come to mind – family, friends, health, pets, good weather, Crimson Tide football.  But when I look a little further I really feel blessed to work at a place I enjoy coming to every day.  Working with people that care about the work and our projects, as well as our clients and partners is truly telling, but working with people that you enjoying spending time with is immeasurably gratifying.  – Jonathan Denton, Asset Manager

I’m thankful for work. It’s a privilege to have a job, we’ve learned during this pandemic, where so many became unemployed. – Kristy Burd, Portfolio Manager Capstone Management Partners

I’m so thankful for the integrity and generosity of the leadership here at CDP and super thankful we have been able to stay open and continue to work during an unprecedented pandemic where so many have not had that privilege.  Lisa Baxter, Sr Accountant

On a personal level, I am very thankful that my family and myself have stayed healthy and safe this year. Moreover, I am tremendously thankful to be a part of company who always values and prioritizes the health and wellbeing of their employees, especially during such an unprecedented period of time. Marichal Moranda, Project Coordinator

I am most thankful this year for family, friends and my health.  2020 has been challenging, but with support from my colleagues and love from my family, we all look forward to a bright and prosperous 2021. – Matt Brown, President Capstone Management Partners

I am so thankful for the family culture that we have at CDP and that I get to be a part of. Our team is truly a team, always willing to pitch in to help one another. Personally, I am grateful for my family, friends and my health. – Nicole Ivanovich, Marketing Director

I am thankful for my family, as they are the foundation to my everything. I feel incredibly lucky to have a family who is always there and supportive through all of my life’s journey. I know that no matter what happens in my life my family will always be there to pick me up when I fall and I’m forever thankful that they are a part of my life. I am also thankful and fortunate to be doing a job that I love doing and is rewarding. I am grateful to be able to work with people that aren’t just co-workers, but who I also can call friends. – Rick Meserve, Construction Manager

I’m thankful for the health of my family, co-workers and clients.  The pandemic has helped us all gain perspective by understanding our priorities, respecting boundaries and efficiently adapting to maintain a productive and safe work environment.  None of these outcomes are possible without a strong family and dedicated co-workers and clients.  I’m blessed to have all three. – Robert Brown, Vice President Asset Management

I am thankful for the many blessings and opportunities that have arisen from this very tumultuous year.  My favorite quote is, ‘sometimes you think you’ve been buried, but you’ve really been planted.’  Without the challenging times in life, there is no growth.  This year has been all about growth for me in my career and home life.  I am grateful for personal growth I’ve experienced, the opportunity to be part of an amazing team at work, and to see all the new additions and unions that have taken place with my family. – Samantha Olejniczak, Human Resources Director
